Rift Valley University’s Second Senate meeting commenced on May 10, 2024, at RVU Head Office after a long and intensive discussion wrapped the afternoon.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Nigussie Dachassa, RVU President. Presentations were made by Vice Presidents and Directors as per the schedule.
After the presentations ended, Prof. Nigussie invited Senators to discuss the modified Organizational Structure, the revised Senate Legislation, the Strategic plan (2024-2029), and the accomplishment report.
Accordingly, the Senators deliberated on the presented working documents and approved the modified Organizational Structure, mandating the RVU Managing Council to prepare the final version of the reviewed Legislation and Strategic plan based on the given inputs.
The Senators in the course of the discussion also raised the problems and challenges they encountered in their respective areas and exchanged ideas and experiences.
The Senators appreciated the way the Managing Council addressed the raised questions and attempts made to tackle the issues at hand and finally consensus was reached.
In summary, Presidents and Directors were given the chance by Professor Nigussie to reflect on issues of concern that need to be addressed at the Campus/College level and the way forward. To that end, messages and directives were given by Vice Presidents and Directors.
The concluding remark was made by Professor Nigussie. Prof. in his closing remark mentioned the pivotal role p that motivated and committed human resources play in transforming institutions and urged Senators to play their part in withstanding the frequent policy changes RVU is encountering and contribute their part in uplifting the status and image of RVU.
Finally, he expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the leadership and promised to support Campus/College leadership in materializing RVU’s Vision and mission.
The Senators who were satisfied with the backing, open, and transparent actions of the Managing Council vowed to work hard in implementing the vision and missions of RVU by garnering the talents and skills of their respective staff.
