Rift Valley University News! Rift Valley University Sidist Kilo Campus on July 18, 2024, organized its 6th Annual in-house research Conference under the Theme “The Role of Higher Education in Improving the Livelihood of the Community for Sustainable Development’.

Sidist Kilo Campus community, guests from various RVU Campuses, and stakeholders participated in the Conference. The conference resumed with a welcome speech by Ato Asaw Angasu, Sidist Kilo Campus Dean. Ato Asaw in his welcome speech thanked the organizing committee and scholars for materializing the research conference. He also appreciated the support and backing of RVU Head Office. After wrapping up his speech, he invited Professor Derebsa Duefera, RVU President to make an opening speech.
Professor Derebsa in his speech mentioned that Research is among the core functions of Higher Learning institutions and the role RVU has been undertaking since its evolvement as a university. He touched upon the efforts made by RVU leadership in instilling the research culture at all levels, and community empowerment through research-based community engagements. Professor Derbesa discussed the role academic institutions play in attaining sustainable development and finally declared the official opening of the research conference.
Three interdisciplinary scholarly papers were presented by RVU scholars and debated by the participants. The presented papers were enriched through the active involvement of the participants.
